How the Instance (hourly cloud) charge when in STOP or SHELVE status?
When you stop or close an instance (which means it is powered down):
- Instance Charges: You will still incur charges based on the resources and RAM used, though the cost will be lower than when the instance is in a ‘Running’ status. Pricing varies depending on your specifications.
- Volume Charges: Charges will continue as normal.
If you choose to shelve an instance (equivalent to pausing or saving a snapshot of your work):
- Instance Charges: You will not be charged.
- Reserved IP: Charges will continue, typically around MYR 0.04 per hour.
- Volume Charges: Charges will continue as normal.
- Snapshot Charges: Charges will continue, typically around MYR 0.02 per hour.
Conclusion
If you do not frequently use your server but wish to retain it in your list, consider stopping the instance at the end of the workweek and resuming at the start of the next week. Shelving the instance is a more cost-effective option in this scenario.
