What does the GiB unit mean in data transfer pricing?
The unit GiB (Gibibyte) is used to measure data transfer in a binary format. It is part of how we calculate charges when you exceed your free 1 TiB (Tebibyte) data transfer limit.
When your free 1 TiB is fully used, charges apply based on the additional data you transfer. Here’s the breakdown:
- For the next 1 TiB to 10 TiB, the cost is MYR 0.44 per GiB.
- For data between 10 TiB to 50 TiB, the cost drops to MYR 0.31 per GiB.
- For usage beyond 50 TiB, the cost decreases further to MYR 0.30 per GiB.
What’s the Difference Between TiB and GiB?
- 1 TiB (Tebibyte) = 1,024 GiB (Gibibytes).
- The charges are calculated per GiB, which represents smaller chunks of data.
In more simple term, think of your free 1 TiB as a data bucket. Once the bucket is full, you’ll be charged based on the extra data you use, which is measured in GiB.
