Changing the Server for Your Domain
How to change the server for my domain?
To point your domain to a new server, you’ll need to update its DNS records to reflect the new server’s IP address. This process ensures that traffic to your domain is directed to the correct server. Here’s how you can do it:
1. Update DNS Records via IP ServerOne Customer Portal
If your domain’s DNS is managed through IP ServerOne:
- Log in to the Customer Portal:
- Access the portal at https://portal.ipserverone.com.
- Navigate to DNS Management:
- On the left menu, click on NovaCloud, then select DNS.
- Select Your Domain:
- Find your domain in the list, click on Actions, and choose Manage.
- Modify DNS Records:
- Update the relevant DNS records (e.g., A records) to point to your new server’s IP address.
- To add a new record, click on Add Records. To edit an existing record, click the pencil icon next to it.

Important Considerations
-
DNS Propagation: Changes to DNS records may take up to 24 hours to propagate worldwide. During this period, some users might still be directed to the old server.
-
Email Services: If you’re also migrating email services to the new server, ensure that MX records are updated accordingly.
-
Custom Name Servers: If you’re using custom name servers, ensure they are correctly configured to point to the new server.
