DirectAdmin User Access Levels Explained

Introduction

DirectAdmin, a powerful control panel for web hosting, categorizes users into three primary access levels: Admin, Reseller, and User. Understanding these levels is crucial for effective management and utilization of the DirectAdmin interface.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of web hosting concepts.
  • Access to a DirectAdmin control panel.

DirectAdmin is a control panel comprising three different access level:

The Admin Level has full administrative privileges and users at this level will also have access to lower user levels, allowing them to perform any administrative tasks.

Resellers come after the Admin Level, mostly being used to create and manage user accounts for end users, to whom hosting packages are generally sold to.

The users at the User Level are end-users who will be given administrative privileges to manage their domain hosted on the server.

 

The current User Access Level can be viewed on the top right when logged into DirectAdmin.

Differentiating the User Levels

By logging in as an admin in DirectAdmin you will be logged in at the Admin level., empty the search text field and click search, you will see all the domain name hosted at this server.

If you were to click on the Reseller Level or User Level, you would have access to the functions available at the respective User Access Levels.

 

Managing Reseller Accounts From The Admin Level

As an admin, you will be able to manage Reseller Accounts. The reseller accounts can be managed by:

1. Click on List Resellers.

2. Logon as a particular reseller by clicking on the reseller’s name.

3. You will be able to view all domains and User Level accounts created by the reseller once logged in by utilising the Search Bar at the top of the page.
